Either I will use copies of the exact texts that a student is using in his/her school or other related texts so as to offer him/her different points of view/strategies. In addition, I will incorporate materials either from my own collection of resources or those obtained via the internet. While the cost of textbooks will be the responsibility of the parent(s), there is no additional charge for materials from either my collection or the internet.
If the student lives in the Vienna, Howland, Warren, or Niles, Ohio area, I will meet with him/her either in his/her home or in a public area, e.g., the local library. However, if a student does not live in one of the above-mentioned areas, then I will conduct sessions via Skype™ or Face Time.
Where Will the Sessions Be Held?
For most students, one hour per week will be sufficient for single subjects. However, for students who require tutoring for more than one subject, I may need either one and one-half or two hours per week. NOTE: Both PSAT and SAT students will require two hours per week.
What is the average amount of time that my child will be tutored?
How do I pay for the sessions?
For those who live in the local Ohio area, payment can be made to Stanley Freedman in the form of a check or money order. For those who live outside the local Ohio area, payment can be arranged by direct deposit. Payment is expected at the end of each session for private tutoring, PSAT, and SAT. Combined PSAT and SAT courses can be paid with 50% down and the balance submitted at the end of the course.
If at any time you feel that I am not performing to your, or especially to your child's, satisfaction, I would urge you to seek the help of another professional.
What if my child does not improve?
Given regular communication with a parent(s) and school personnel, I will reinforce what is occurring in the classroom. This will be validated both during tutoring sessions as well as at other times when necessary.
How will I know my child is making progress?
How will I communicate with your child's teachers?
What kind of materials will be used?
What is the policy for cancellations and make-up sessions?
After you offer written communication to school personnel granting permission for them to share information about your child, I will use whatever means are effective, e.g., email, telephone, or Skype™.
Since I will place into my schedule both a fixed day and time for tutoring each student, I require a twenty-four notice for cancellation. However, I recognize that either emergencies or illnesses do exist at the very last moment; therefore, if this is not abused, I will make up a session at no cost.
